Hello fellow bloggers! I know I haven't posted in a while, during this week I came back from a week-long stay/holiday at my grandparents house which is 12 hours away and they have no computers or Internet. Obviously while I was away I was unable to make any cards. Also, as today is the second last day of the school holidays (for NSW students in Australia) there will probably not be many posts in the next ten weeks as I will be in my first term of year 11. So, unfortunately this may be my last post in quite some time :( But don't worry, I will be back!!
Anyway, enough of my rambling. I made this cute wedding anniversary card tonight for the challenge over at Scrappy Moms Stamps Terrific Tuesday Challenge. The challenge was to create something using the Sweethearts cartridge (or similar cartridge/cuts) but as I do not have this cartridge I used the heart shaped key and lock from Indie Art (Solutions Cartridge). For more details see below. Sorry for the poor quality pictures. I am too tired to bother cropping them all.

Front of the card. The sentiment on the outside is a die-cut which says 'Love is the master key which opens the gates of happiness - Oliver Wendel Holmes'. 

 

Inside. Sentiment says 'You hold the key to my heart, Happy anniversary'

  Closeups

 Card Details:

• Paper used is from the 6" paper pad by Kaisercraft from the La Chateau Collection.
• Heart key and lock cut from Indie Art, key at 2 3/4" and key at 1 3/4". Shadow feature was also used for both of the cuts.
• Black rhinestones (bling) are by Kaisercraft.
• Thin black satin ribbon (from stash).
• The die cut sentiment on the front of the card is also form the 6" paper pad and the black 'shadow' behind it was hand-cut (corners were cut using the edge of a round punch).
• Inside sentiment was printed on white cardstock from the computer. Font used is Century Schoolbook at size 14. The little scrolly things on either side of Happy Anniversary were "symbols" from the font Windings 2. Key, heart and happy anniversary are in italics.
• The key is a rub-on from the Kaisercraft black and white La Chateau rub-on pack.
• Thick black satin ribbon is from my stash.
• Light blue cardstock was used as a mat for the inside white layer.
• Cream coloured border at the bottom (on the inside) was also from 6" paper pack (die-cuts are in the last four pages).

'Stumped' Gift Card holder

To start off, this is not my original idea. I was "inspired" by another's project. I would link their post/picture and unfortunately I cannot find it anymore but if anyone finds it please contact me so I can link it to this post.

This is the front of the gift card holder when it is all folded up. The stump is from create a critter

The black rectangles are Velcro, as a closure for the holder.

Sentiment was printed onto the paper from the computer.

'PAMPERED PRINCESS' POODLE BOX

Hello everyone. Just sharing a box which I finished making tonight. The box was made using the Martha Stewart score board which I absolutely LOVE!!! When folded and adhered together the box measures to be 5" x 5" x 3 1/2". All the cricut cuts on this box  - the poodle, crown, cushion and pink sentiment layer on the front - are from the create a critter cartridge, which is my fabourite cart at the moment. I am entering this project in a few challenges, the first over at The Paper Variety which is to use black, pink and white only. Another challenge is for a blog hop over at My Pink Stamper's website/blog (her first blog hop!) but I won't tell you what the challenge is because you have to gather all the code words from everyone's blogs first!!  I think that was a great and creative way to explain the rules of the challenge to the blog hoppers :) The last challenge I'm entering this in is the Tuesday Challenge at MadebyMomos, the challenge is 'Princess themed'. Anyways, here it is. I was thinking about giving this box as a gift to a little girl and filling it with pink tissue paper and little things so she can feel (and look) like a "Pampered Princess" e.g. nail polish and file, various lotions or creams etc. etc. Onto the pictures (sorry they're not very good quality they were taken at around midnight!)!!!

The box (front/side/top view)

Top of the box. I added three pink rhinestones (bling) in each corner to glitz it up a little and look a little more interesting.

 Poodle closeup. Poodle cut from create a critter cart on page 36. Cushion is the accessory from page 38 and the crown is also an accessory from page 24.

 Sentiment closeup. The pink shape is from page 33 of the create a critter cartridge (phrase). Font is Cursive 101. Although it is hard to see in the picture I added black Kindyglitz (like stickles) to the letter to make them all glittery and pretty. Also added black Kaisercraft rhinestones (these are the black dots...they don't like that much like rhinestone/bling in this photo!!)

Other Details

·         Patterned paper – unfortunately I do not know the names/brands of any of the papers I used as they were all scraps (sorry!!)

·         Pink, black and clear rhinestones by Kaisercraft and the tiny pink and clear rhinestones are by “Absolutely Something for Everyone”  

·         For the light pink layer I did not use the layer 1 feature button but rather just cut out the normal layer without any feature buttons

·         For the mouth I used pink scraps punched a section of it using the ‘Apron Lace’ border punch and cutting one of the little curvy bits and filing the sides to make them rounded :)

·         The eyes on the poodle are two black Kaisercraft rhinestones with lines drawn underneath using a black Tombo ABT pen (N15).

·         The collar was made by cutting two slits along the edge of the poodles neck, threading the ribbon through and adhering on the back (cheater method as MadebyMomo would say) and embellishing it with four tiny clear rhinestones

·         I did not cut out the ribbons for the poodle’s ears and instead cut the layer with scissors so it did not have the ribbon parts sticking out and added three tiny clear rhinestones to each ear

·         The trimming on the cushion has ‘Crystalina’ Kindyglitz on it which gives it the sparkly pink look (the paper was originally white).

·         I inked the dark pink layers with Versa Colour ‘Orchid’ ink to give them a bit more depth

·         Added glossy accent to the nose to give a shiny, wet dog nose look (lol)

·         Also added pink and clear rhinestones to the crown

Another birthday card which I made using the graphically speaking cartridge which I've actually never used before!! After flicking through all the pages in the handbook I know I will need to use this cartridge a lot more as there are some great images on it. I even starting thinking about a few cards which I could make using this cartridge. It's good going back through old cartridges and thinking up new ideas/layouts/cards to make :)

The card was made two challenges: the first - Cartridge Chaos the first challenge of a new series of challenges hosted by Paula (More Than Favors) and Meriah (Two Scraptastic Gals). The challenge was to use the cartridge Graphically Speaking. The second challenge was over at Cooking With Cricut #12 Challenge: Glittermania - challenge was to "glitz it up" e.g. bling, stickles etc.

For these challenges I used the butterfly cut from Graphically Speaking (page 57 using the icon feature button as well as the icon blackout feature button) as well as scalloped circle from the same cartridge (page 60 using shift, phrase buttons). I also used lots of turquoise coloured bling to "glitz up" the card (I used 26 individual rhinestones!!). Onto the pictures!! (Sorry about the bad quality of the pictures..I just couldn't get any good ones!!)

Supplies:

• Pinky red coloured cardstock for base and creamy yellow layer
• Kaisercraft 6" paper pad 'Gypsy Sisters' collection (all layers of butterfly as well as scalloped circle, background and turquoise mat under the sentiment were from this paper pack)
• Pink and yellow sentiment layer is a die-cut from the pack of Gypsy Sisters coordinating die-cuts
• Happy Birthday is from a sheet of rubons all saying Happy Birthday by Kaisercraft
• Bling is also by Kaisercraft
• Also used 'magic mount' (double sided adhesive foam) to add dimension to the sentiment layer to hold the card in place when it is sitting in the 'easel position'.

Breakfast at Tiffanys Audrey Hepburn Card

Second post of the day. This card is for a friend's sister's birthday which is on Sunday. At first I had no idea what to do because it was a 18th birthday card so I wanted it to be special and elegent. Eventually I came up with this (see pictures below), as my friend's sister likes Audrey Hepburn and Breakfast at Tiffanys so I used these as the theme for this card. I picked the blue cardstock to match the trademark Tiffany blue colour and printed a picture on photo paper after cropping and editing the colours a little in photoshop . I'm quite happy with how it turned out. :)

Supplies:

• Black, white and 'Tiffany' blue cardstock
• White satin ribbon
• Black ribbon
• Fiskars 'Lace' border punch
• Photo paper and picture from internet (google)
• Blue kaisercraft rhinestones
• Diecut from kaisercraft 'Le Chateau' 6" paper pad
• Happy Birthday rub-on from Birthday rub-on pack by Kaisercraft
• Black patterned paper is also from Kaisercraft 'Le Chateau' 6" paper pad

Love Bug Card - Cricut Cardz Challenge #57

Another card which I made for a challenge over at Cricut Cardz Challenge. The challenge was to create something using any cartridge you want but to only use the colours red, black and white. After much fiddling (deciding what papers, cricut cutes etc. to use) and quite a few hours (not exaggerating) I finally finished creating this card. It took me agesssssss but it was worth it. I plan on giving it to my Mum to give to my Dad for Valentines Day. Hopefully they both like it!!

Flower sticker

Cute ladybug/lovebug cut from create a critter. I used love heart shaped bling for the eyes cause this 'love bug' is in love <3

Closeup and different angle of the lovebug to show the shiny, foil-like paper I used for the wings and heart. Although it is kind of hard to see I lightly coloured little cheeks on the lovebug using a red coloured pencil.

Supplies:

• Black, red and white card stock
• Kaisercraft "Shaken not Stirred" 6" paper pad (white and black background papers are from this, as is the red scalloped border)
• Thin, black satin ribbon
• Black and red Kaisercraft rhinestone packs (for the flower centres and antennae)
• Red heart rhinestones from a pack which included clear/silver, pink, red and dark red heart shaped rhinestones by a company called Barunson Card - Crafty Bitz. Not sure where I bought them...sorry.
• I'm not sure how to describe the paper I used for the wings and heart - its thin and had a foil (?) like texture and it is like it has been embossed with little circles. All I know was that is doesn't cut very well using the cricut!!
• Alpha stickers are from Adorn It - Carolee's Creations in 'Red Hot'.

'Joy' Snowflake Cards

The talented Momo aka Mari is having her 19th Tuesday Challenge, the first one of 2011, click HERE to check it out (scroll down until you find the post - it should be the second one). The challenge was to create something with "snow" or a "snow theme". So I created these two cards. Originally it was just the purple one but I had some scrap silver paper and pretty ribbon so I made another! The word Joy is cut from Create a Critter. I am also entering these cards in The Paper Variety's challenge which is to use snowflakes. Click HERE to see the post. Without further ado, here are the pictures...

The Cards

• Joy cut at 2" from Create a Critter - page 73 using shift and phrase feature buttons.
• Silver card dimensions = 4 1/4" by 5"
• Purple card dimensions = 4" by 5 1/4"
• All cardstock and paper used is shimmery/glittery paper/cardstock (except inside part of purple card which is plain black) 
• Snowflakes on inside of cards are middle cut-out part from the word joy
• Sorry, I don't know what brand the snowflake patterned paper is, all I know is that its quite thin and came in a 8 1/2" by 11" sheet

Sweet Treats Ice Cream Card

An easel card for a birthday. The ice-cream is from the Sweet Treats cricut cartridge. For the glitter on the ice cream scoops I used 'jac' paper - specialty paper which is like a big A4 sheet of double sided tape! For the sprinkles I used beads from my Mum's stash (3 red, 2 orange, 3 yellow/gold, 3 green and 3 purple). The photos are not that great but bear with me...and don't worry it looks a lot better than it does in the photos!! For more details about the card see below...

The card...standing up



Here is a closeup of the ice cream...unfortunately something happened to the the yellow layer of ice cream after heat embossing it...I think I 'heated' it a bit too much. In my defence it was my first time heat embossing and I didn't really know what I was doing. When I showed it to my Dad he said it looked like the ice cream was melting...lol.

Closeup of the sentiment. I tried printing the sentiment from the computer on cardstock but, as you can see, it didn't turn out perfectly :-( Nothing is working for me today!! I guess I can try to go back over the letters with a felt tip marker.

The Card

·         Layers:

o   Base – white cardstock cut at 4” by 6”. Easel part (folded part) is white cardstock cut at 4” by 11 ¾” and scored (and folded) at approximately 3” and 6”.

o   Yellow layer – yellow cardstock cut at approximately 3 ¾” by 5 ¾”

o   Blue/turquoise layer – 3 ½” by 5 5/8”. Paper is by Basic Grey – Lemonade: Splash (LEM-1778)

·         Cricut Cut:

o   Ice cream is from Sweet Treats cartridge on page 31 of the handbook.  I think it was cut at 3” but cannot remember.

o   Cone layer/base layer - Cut from brown cardstock, inked with Versa Colour ‘Pinecone’ ink and embossed using the ‘Mesh Texture’ embossing folder (I only embossed the part which is seen to make it easier to adhere the ice cream).

o   White ice cream layer – cut out of jac paper using shift option. The glitter looks white but is actually green (I didn’t heat emboss this so maybe that’s why) and is by Celebrations of Australia – Iridescent Glitter in Green (superfine .008)

o   Yellow ice cream layer – cut from jac paper using the layers option button. Embossing powder s again by Celebrations of Australia in ‘pastel yellow sparkle’

o   Sprinkles – beads from stash of random ‘bits and bobs’, adhered using Glossy Accents.

·         Sentiment Layer:

o   Yellow base layer – cut at 3 5/8” by 1 ¾”

o   Blue/turquoise layer – same paper as mentioned above, cut at 3 ½” by 1 5/8”

o   White layer – cut at 3 5/16” by 1 3/8”. Sentiment says “Treat yourself to a wonderful birthday!” printing using size 17 Kristen ITC font. Rhinestones are by Kaisercraft (orange, purple, red and green – all from separate packs in colours listed).
